Appears the company is getting serious..
After a onslaught of new hires were added to the roster here in MN right after the pandemic.
Management has declared war on those that don't follow procedures as defined by the SOP's described in our driver handbooks..our Bible for performing tasks relating to customer deliveries.
Operational Discipline.
Seems we've had 6 or more preventable vehicles incidents/accidents this year and the overlords ain't happy.
I believe this is one of the parameters used to define and decide on year-end bonuses for the management team too, but has also garnered attention from corporate.
Starting immediately ALL drivers at EVERY stop must follow handbook procedures to the T!
This calls for a site survey upon arrival at every customer..
Exit truck with full PPE and do a physical survey of area..do I need to chock wheels or wear my leather gloves during?
Wasn't discussed.
You MUST use all your cones to mark all potential hazards and trailer stopping spot for the delivery.
Anytime you exit the unit you must use your PPE regardless of site.
We've had 1 terminated who was allowed to "retire"
1, who was terminated but allowed to return as a PSA to company employess..
He allowed a corporate wide video focused on the need to follow procedures.
All are on 18-24 month probation allowing for termination without union representation, which is BS imho.
Company will be employing company spotters (spies) at sites during the forthcoming months to ensure compliance. Was told (I was off during the meetings) that non compliance will result in instant termination and driver will not even be allowed to drive unit back to plant. May have to bring a skateboard or bicycle with..lol
One guy said "I guess driver appreciation is over"
To which another responded
"not sure it ever started"
Moral of this post is..Everyone..be careful out there.

They seem to want people to leave. I wonder how long until they realize thatviper822004 and Rugerfan Thank this.

This is the problem nowadays. Good employees leave because of strict corporate BS policies and bad management.Gearjammin' Penguin and RockinChair Thank this.
-
They know exactly what they're doing. With enough rules they can get rid of you for any reason and not make it look retaliatory or disciminatory.
I dont really care for unions but BS like this is why they exisits in the first place. Unchecked these upper managmanet types start to think they own you.Gearjammin' Penguin, snowbird_89 and Rugerfan Thank this. -
Is that 6 for your terminal or for the entire U.S. fleet? That’s our monthly average for the entire fleet lol. Most are always striking something at customer or on the yard. Bunch of lazy idiots that don’t want to get off and set cones. 1st offense is suspension. 2nd is termination. Same goes for getting caught with phone in hand.

Just our 32 guys..
And yes, it's just a case of not doing what you were trained to do, expected to do and paid to do.
We make 130K or more per year and the company expects more and if they don't get it.. those folks will be back to hauling freight..
I have no pity.scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this. -
Oh wow. 6 for one terminal is really high. No wonder they’re implementing those extreme measures.
We had 2-3 last year and they were talking about bringing down the safety team to do the Smith System lol.scythe08 Thanks this. -
First day back today. Loved it! Get chased by Wasps 3 times as there nests all over the place there. But it was really cool getting to see the inside of the LIN and LOX dog houses.
Still not entirely sure how they are going to handle having a full time night crew as I dont think they have enough equipment. But the Boss spent 28 years with his previous company starting from a driver and working his way up to Vice president of his department. Hes got a pretty good mind for logistics and seems like he fights for his guys. I'm looking forward to getting this ball rollingAccidental Trucker, RockinChair, Dennixx and 1 other person Thank this. -
Welcome back to the Cryo world!
They’ll get it figured out. I think we have 10 trucks. 4 oxygen and 6 nitrogen. Something like that and 17 drivers working around the clock.
As soon as one driver comes back from his run another one is clocking in. And like two on off day. So it all works out. -
I think it’s interesting I’ve gotten to experience cryo two completely different ways. First five years was working for AP in the largest terminal on the west coast, with over 50 drivers. Where a driver started every hour and some shifts had multiple drivers starting at the same time. We also ran it all from LIN,LOX,LAR, LHY, tube trailers, 450bar trailers, and microbulk. Seemed like a giant machine where you can get lost in the mix sometimes. Then you have my last couple years with Airgas in a terminal with less then 10 drivers specialized in just LHY and GH2. Where you don’t feel like just a number and management is at an entirely different pace.Dennixx, scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this.
