Hi
I have a difficult situation.
Me and my husband have a CDL A license from Florida.
We moved to Tennessee ,Clarksville and we lease a house. After that we find out Tennessee state does not change are CDL because we are not us citizen's (yet).
We asked the Kentucky Dmv and they said no problem they will change it but we need a kentucky address.
So we need just a kentucky address what we can show to the dmv and they will change our license and we can start working.
We are really need a help.
Thanks

She needs a Kentucky address. Some driver that lives in Kentucky give her a lease agreement to rent a room in his/her house. Don't have to actually charge any money; she and hubby just need a rent/lease agreement. They don't have to actually live there. Can download one of those from the internet.Last edited: Oct 5, 2024

Not fraud. Just because someone rents/leases a room somewhere doesn't mean they have to actually live there. Many truck drivers do that. Use someone's address to get the job they want, etc. but don't actually live there. Many drivers live in the truck and don't have a physical address, but use someone else's address and get their mail thru a mail forwarding service. Nothing about any of that is illegal.
Many drivers do that thru South Dakota, to avoid state income taxes and it's legal.CorsairFanboy, 4wayflashers, Wargames and 5 others Thank this. -
I find it hard to conceive Tennessee won’t issue a CDL for legal residents. Is that really a thing? Can’t imagine that holding up to a court challenge.

Move to Kentucky. Preferably Louisville.

No, someone is lying, so go back to Tennessee dmv and talk to a supervisor and if they say that, go to the states ag and talk to them.
All states has a requirement to accept legal residents as the same as citizens.
and bring the papers for the lease with you.Gearjammin' Penguin, Cattleman84, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
Did they take the last train? ( to Clarksville) So, Florida grants CDLs to non-citizens? I'd get that straightened out first. I read Ky. will issue a CDL to non-citizens like Fl. called a "non-domiciled CDL". I'd have to think TN. isn't any different. Sounds like a hose job,,,
