Just a heads up to anyone buying an MC# "With An Amazon Acct." If you change ONE thing on that acct. like the bank acct. info. they will suspend that acct. and you just wasted your money.

I have a question for everyone. If I add a partner. Give him 50% of the 1000 shares in my name for my corporation. Then after a year or two, maybe give him my 50%. Bank account would change into a new Business account with both our names. Otherwise everything stays the same. I may or may not be involved much in this. We’re both looking to work part time into retirement. Each driving only 2-3 days per week. Running only 1 Penske leased vehicle. I’m wondering if by doing it this way, my new “partner” can avoid the pitfalls of a new MC #. Mainly insurance costs, and lack of time in Business. Otherwise, I doubt he could afford the insurance, wouldn’t be much money left to pay me as a part time driver. Think it would work?

I've never been a fan of partnerships myself. You could just transfer the business ownership to him entirely as a sale then just drive PT for him as an employee. He won't be starting with a new authority that way so insurance should be manageable. Lightens your load (pun intended) tremendously as well.

No worries. Lot's if people here like to only read what they want to believe. They think because they haven't done something then it can't be done. I bet many of them don't even own a truck or were ever motor carriers themselves.

Accessorials and bond claims are other topics naysayers can't seem to handle. The problem is it's too easy to pretend to be anything from behind a computer. Lot's of people posting in the OO section aren't OOs at all.
