This thread is being started as a support thread only. No comparisons or discussions about other NON-Rand McNally navigation devices or software.

I am Mark the Lead Beta Tester for Rand McNally for their line of navigation devices such as the TND 500 and the TND 700. If you have concerns, questions or your TND is just not performing correctly please let me know the details of your issue.

I monitor this thread daily to include weekends. My E-Mail is shown at the bottom and even if I am on a "road trip" I will receive your E-Mail.

I am bringing this over from another thread that is more of a general discussion type of thread. I will monitor that thread, but support questions should be addressed in this thread.

    Thanks and bring it on...

    Mark

Hey Mark, now I'm not sure whether to ask here or the other thread.. but here goes. Twice now, I've driven from Inianapolis to Denver... what should be a simple route straight west on I 70. The TND insists on trying to get me to go north and take smaller roads to go west. Shortest or Fastest setting doesn't seem to make any difference. Am I missing something here?

Rand sees the issue... they are looking at it now..... the route is correct from B to A but not A to B...

    Thanks for this,
    Mark

Yup. That would be a question for THIS thread. :biggrin_255:

Also, I just played with your scenario using standard 53' truck/trailer settings.

Indy to Denver (shortest) 1064 miles (goes west on I74 to I72 to US-36)
Indy to Denver (fastest) 1070 miles (goes west on I74 to I72 to US-36)

Both are straight forward routes but they do NOT use I-70.

Then: (using I-70 by touching a spot on that road and adding it as a waypoint.)
Indy to Denver (fastest) 885 miles using I-70.
Indy to Denver (shortest) 887 miles using I-70.

Yup - you have a legitimate question my friend. :yes2557:

i was out driving around with the tnd in my car to test it out. The battery ran out. I went home and charged it, it was in standby mode when i started charging it but i did not know that at the time. After it was charged i turned it off and back on, and the map is showing me at the location the battery ran out instead of being at home.
Will that change once i start driving again or is there a problem.

ok after many hours of being home the map now shows me at home.

It is a GPS device, to show your physical location it has to be able to receive satellite signals. Sometimes in a house will block the signals to a point it may take awhile to receive a good signal. Going outside for about 5 minutes will put your GPS back on your physical location.

    Thanks,
    Makr

So when will I be able to add that spot as a waypoint on my 500? Or was that in the update my computer just downloaded?

I thought there was a way to route a trip from point A to point B while you are sitting at point C. Something to do with "set as origin"? I can't seem to make it happen now. Can you point me in the right direction? (fitting pun)

find your first location, instead of hitting begin route, at the bottom is a 'set Origin" button... click on that... it will take you to the map screen.. then go to the main menu again and find your second loction and now begin route....

It should now show you from point A to B while sitting at C.

    Thanks,
    Mark
