Is that even enough to make a dent in the problem? My guess is NO.
I know that the cost , and I am talking , equipment rented , and all materials and employees , and having to move to each spot. (any electricity, plumbing, or air and charging not included) is not even close to 30 mill.
However , I am not taking a profit on my bid here. If they are putting in water, bathrooms, lights, nice grassy area for pets....have never done that so i have no idea.
But for nothing but grading and concreting. It is low skill, easy as pie, and concrete is the cheapest thing goin, other than just pounding the ground hard and flat. I don't even charge for that , because my job is building the teleport and then getting all the info up to the satellites from those giant dishes that are looking for intelligent life. LOL (all about bouncing/broadcasting communication / information from earth to space and to the exact dish and keeping it from anyone that it is not meant for.)
However they do have a few super gizmos that are looking for intelligent life. So far , they are not answering. Can you blame them? I don't do those so I don't know if we have any replies or not.
30 mill , for 260 spots sounds like a scam to me.Last edited: Oct 23, 2024

So not one of them has a charging station for the electric truck revolution that is taking place next year?
Flat Earth Trucker, Sirscrapntruckalot and The_vett Thank this. -
I can't say that I saw that in the article. But I could have missed it. , now I am curious and I am going to read it again.

Well you have a good point SmallPackage, nothing mentioned about electric chargers, makes me think they won't be having any electric parking, unless each place is already set up , I bet not.Last edited: Oct 23, 2024

In another spot Wisconsin is said to be getting a federal grant for updating a couple rest stops to the tune of 12.5 mill. Now that is all I know . If they are being ran together or it is a complete different job, I don't know. This is almost funny , because I thought 30 mill as two much. I wasn't looking for it so if anyone is interested, it is not hard to find.
I guess it is the same deal , diferent article.Last edited: Oct 23, 2024

- "Wisconsin - A $12,500,000 grant will replace both the Rest Area 51 Maribel and Rest Area 52 Denmark facilities along I-43 in Manitowoc County, which will increase truck parking capacity by 72 spaces. The project will also improve lighting and access for trucks as well as provide real-time parking information."
- Ohio - A $17,897,842 grant will repurpose two closed rest areas as new truck parking facilities. One facility on I-70 near New Paris will create 100 spaces, and the other on I-80 near Hubbard will create 38 spaces. Over a one-year period, over 1,000 trucks were forced to park in undesignated spots within a few miles of these locations. The project will entail video surveillance, and the parking areas will be added to the Truck Parking Information Management System, providing real-time parking information to drivers.
