You're right and that is who I'm talking to is the owners but apparently their attitude is that if you're not an owner then you can't point out what should be obvious to them. Like I said earlier we're talking about the most basic economics. You don't need to be a mathematician to know that 2+2=4 and you don't need to be an atmospheric scientist to see that the sky is blue nor do you need to own a business to understand the basics of supply and demand principles.

Now it should! The original statement wasn't a political statement it's the ensuing debates that followed that turned politicalIamoverit Thanks this.

I'm just happy to be in the 1% and I didn't have to join a motorcycle gang to get there.
@ElmerFudpucker tried to get me on with the Banditos but I couldn't source a bandolier belt of shotgun shells before the annual brotherhood get together.Bret1984, broke down plumber, ElmerFudpucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
And just what US Government program provides this?
Please provide a link, not just what you believe you have heard. -
Its a Free Market. And those willing to run cheap will do so.FloridaRetired, Rideandrepair and Iamoverit Thank this.

You have no idea what that carrier is making per mile. Said carrier could have made round trip mileage going into a dead area and then decided to haul anything coming out because it's practically double revenue. You have zero skin in the game so the fact other people's business decisions seem to concern you too much is very disturbing. Why not start your own business?Midwest Trucker and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I've been sitting a lot for the last two years. Having paid off equipment helps but saved money doesn't last forever. Time to go haul cheap freight and pray the truck doesn't breakdown. That's the worst part, actually. One breakdown can kill weeks of work in times like these.

Nothing you’ve said addresses supply and demand. You want the government to set rates. I keep asking you the same thing and you’ve yet to answer of the current carriers who gets to decide who stays and works and who has to get rid of their equipment to correct the market. I know the market is bad, you know the market is bad, yet every day there are people paying $30k or more for insurance on new authority to haul spot freight. It’s not really a concern of mine if they succeed or fail. Same as if you opened up Bret’s Pizza I doubt the other pizza shops would be concerned if you stayed in business or not. If anyone’s plan is to rely on spot freight they should be able to see now’s not the greatest time to try it and I don’t feel we should be protecting them from themselves.FloridaRetired and TheLoadOut Thank this.

Seems like a poor business strategy to me.

That's like asking the people greeter to get you a job at Walmart. You need to go higher up the chain if you want in. Once they get tired of laughing at him, they'll kick him to the curb like Last Call.
