I’ll try this again a different way. You would like the government to set the rates, that won’t change the load to truck ratio (supply and demand) so who will decide what trucks get to work and who has to go out of business? You missed the point on my pizza shop comment. It was just a way of me saying again that trucking seems to be the only industry where the attitude is everyone should survive no matter what. If your pizza shop is struggling I doubt other shops would give two craps if you go out of business or not.

Who decides what companies get the spot loads and who sits out?
Does the government start picking winners and losers? If so, what are their decisions based on?
What if the government says you need X amount of money in the bank to stay in business and if not you’re closing down?

You’re nervous about your job and want to “fix” the industry, meanwhile there are quite a few who are doing well and don’t wish for any help from our wonderful government. I will add this in my memory alongside “the government needs to mandate detention pay” and “broker transparency” so I can pull it out when people talk of ELD’s and speed limiters while saying the government needs to stay out of our business.

Wrong. Are YOU one breakdown away from bankruptcy? You can simply walk away free and clear without a care in the world. Get another job in a day or two. Put your name on an authority, insurance policy, IRP, IFTA, NYHUT, KYU, LOCs, vendor accounts etc etc then you'll have some real responsibility.

 

Definitely but you know what i mean. You can still walk away with zero responsibility nor lost investments. Your carrier doesn't have such a luxury. Also agree about the economy. We can't control what anyone else does though. We have to do what's most important for us even if it means jumping to another career path.

 

How is it humanly possible for one person to be full of that much crap?
