Unfortunately trucking companies make money when their trucks are running so they play the game seeing how far they can push you on hometime. The key here is really standing your ground, I had a couple times not getting home on time and I made it abundantly clear I would Bobtail from CA to FL if I had to when I got empty, the last thing they want is you putting 500-2500 miles on that truck not making money. I stay out 6-8 weeks at a time and warn my DM the week I'm going home that this can be a good week for both of us or a real bad one and things have seemed to work out pretty good the last couple times going home, on time the last 3 even a day early twice. I even sent him an apology ahead of time for all the nasty things I would be saying to him the week over going home, I have pretty much every minute planned out when I'm home to maximize my hometime so getting there when I planned is important. Another hint if you need to be home on let's say June 3rd put in to be home June 2nd and you'll usually make the 3rd for sure. Last and final hint go home on Monday's or Tuesday and come back out on Saturday this way you have miles getting home and miles coming out and never in the hole. Plus finding a load to deliver on Monday or Tuesday is much better then getting a load to deliver on Friday's. Hope that helps.

Not good news considering I'll be going through WY tomorrow. But I'm pretty good on the log book considering I just came out of the house. The trailer I'm picking up in Olathe looks pretty new also.

Wow...loaded in Fontana, CA with only 12,885, and in only 42 minutes from check in to locking the doors! Going to Duncan, OK Family Dollar for Thursday at 0100. Only bad thing is the low miles on the trip. Only 1285, but think of the fuel mileage if it was all the way across the country!!!! I know, gotta gripe about something.....
