Sorry to harsh your mellow, but you asked, I answered.
Perhaps you can come back in a month or two and prove me wrong.
Good luck.
Not much time and only one shot at this. Please help.

I think I read that they only go back 5 years on driving and background checks. Is that right?
What are the best ones these days that give decent paid CDL training? I'm in south Georgia.frhcjufhb Thanks this. -
KLLM Driving Academy

Assuming you acquire your CDL as described above (i.e., thru the "Hope Scholarship" pgm) -- I think probably your best option for starting out in the trucking world would very likely be with Wiley Sanders Truck Lines:
Truck Lines | Company Fleet | Shippers | On-Time Delivery | Wiley Sanders | Troy, Alabama
&
Entry Level Drivers | Truck Driving School Graduate | Less Than 6 Months | CDL | Wiley Sanders | Troy, Alabama
Their terminal is on the north side of Troy, AL.
I have seen TV ads within the past few weeks, advertising for drivers.
Not sure if they are currently taking in new drivers...or not.
Best to inquire within.
A co-worker used to work/drive for them.
She had nothing negative to say about them.
They offer several different freight types.
You will later find that driving a big rig is VASTLY DIFFERENT....from all your previous road adventures.
It's definitely not for just anybody.

Here's a current (as of the timing of this post) ad for new drivers, with May Trucking....their nearest terminal is further away...over in Pensacola, FL:
May Trucking -- hiring new CDL grads -- Eastern OTR
They have the nickname of "no-pay May"....so ask what kind of miles you'd be getting.
At 41¢ per mile -- you need A LOT of miles every week.

This carrier accepts new drivers from approved schools, & has a facility in Valdosta &/or Atlanta...& you have a shot at a home weekly gig:
Epes Transport -- hires new drivers from approved schools -- inquire within for acceptable area CDL training facilities

Your CDL job search is not complete -- until you've looked at this carrier....they normally accept new CDL holders:
Werner Enterprises -- terminal on West side of Atlanta -- hires/trains new CDL holders
Be sure to inquire about & avoid any "dollar store" type jobs with this carrier. Those "dollar store" jobs are the "kiss of death" for inexperienced drivers.
