Pittsburg Power huh. What, are they like a performance shop for big trucks?
What can be done to an ISX anyway??

That's a 10-4, they sell goodies for large cars, from straight thru mufflers to edge/bullydog style controller boxes to crank out more grunt (and mileage) from your mill.:smt038

What do people expect anyway...... they have taken all of the sulpher out of the fuel.....power loss...less mileage. According to more than one CAT shop, the 2nd turbo is just there to clean up the air a little more....does not do a thing for performance. It is going to get worse before it gets better. Just wait until you have to run them on Bio-diesel...... it all goes right into the crapper....more fuel for less performance at higher cost..... And they call this progress....
I will keep my old "E" model thank you . Look for places to fuel that have not gone to 100% low sulpher fuel yet. All of the new engines suck in my opinion

Yeah, twin turbo's are only good for high horsepower low compression engines. Otherwise they generate too much heat. The setup that CAT is trying is too much heat in too small an area, combine that with the CAT exhaust system back pressure and you have a nuetral boost, not good for a motor. Too much stress on the turbo, both sides
fighting against the pressure and each other.

Yeah, just keep the old motor, run lucas with every fueling, and the new CJ4 motor oil. You should be fine. I get done paying for this truck and I will be looking for an old mechanical Big Cam 444 Cummins to hot rod. If I can get 700hp to the ground on 500ppm fuel, I ought to be able to get 600hp with the 15ppm fuel and additives, on the same motor. I am not buying in to this new tech till they have it worked out and proven through the first rebuild cycle. I will let everybody else be the lab rats.

Yep, anything from a slightly hot ISM, a HotRod ISX, a really hot N14, a smoking hot Big Cam 444, to the grand daddy of them all, a 1200 hp twin turbo 19 liter KTTA. They have the goodies to make a little truck into a large car killer!.

I used to get over 4 with my 3406 mechanicals in a 379 pete. RIght now I have a t800 with a c15 at 450hp and I'm only getting 4.6mpg out of it. but the rear gear is horrible in this truck. My favorite setup is an 18 speed with 3.08 reag gear if you want fuel milage out of a cat. I think this truck has a 3.70 in it

    KB3MMX Thanks this.

Geez, someone dropped the ball when they specced that truck, esp if you are running OTR and not overweight/oversize. The only trucks I have seen rear gears that short (with a 13 or 18 spd) are the Michigan Trains out here.

I will keep my old "E" model thank you . Look for places to fuel that have not gone to 100% low sulpher fuel yet. All of the new engines suck in my opinion

Runamuk, Pgh power has lots of goodies for for a pre-emission E CAT like yours:thumbup:

    rollin coal Thanks this.
