Glad you're getting away from the deadhead miles. They will get you out of trucking quickly. Also glad you are making money, the grain rates sure aren't going up. I got a quote today and it paid worse than some a month ago. It was a different broker so that may be the difference.

5M, you getting the FSC on your loads?

Glad to hear your making money now, 5mouths, that's the name of the game no matter what kind of trailer you're pulling. Have you gotten used to the reefer singing you to sleep? I used to have a part time gig driving for a company with refers, when I got ready to sleep, sometimes I would switch the thing from the cycle on/off mode to constant running so the starting and stopping wouldn't wake me up. Course I wasn't buying the reefer fuel either....:biggrin_255:

Well, may not haul much this week. Brokers seem to be cutting rates not sure why...fuel hasn't come down much. One broker cut the rate a penny a bushel from a week ago.

Its been kinda like that around here too, wheathauler.I have only hauled for one farmer lately, but the brokers i deal with have been pretty ''stingy'' with grain rates lately, and corn was down again today,so they will not increase the rates much this week either:biggrin_25512:,I may have to increase my mileage radius on my insurance and go to a little more regional, less local,if rates don't pick up a little. Looks like i may have to get my old fold-up lawn chair out to sleep in cause me and Molly can't both stretch out in my daycab, and she won't lay in the floor and let me lie down across both seats:biggrin_2559:

You need to put a 36 inch sleeper on your truck... might be able to find one in a salvage yard.

Lawnchair would work in summer but winter might be a bit uncomfortable.:biggrin_255:

Seeing the trends, and the amount of income. The pretty truck is now for sale and on Truckpaper online.

Just not enough income to justify time and being away from home. Once relocated back to NC, will have enough small construction and painting to keep me busy and likely more money than running this truck.

If any of yous know anyone that could use a very solid truck with a cat warranty send them this way please.

The grain around here has been pretty slow too. I've got a couple bins that need moved whenever they're done planting, but that's about it. Been hauling gravel the last 2 days. Got a couple neighbors that are building new houses within a mile of our place, newly cleared sites that both need rock to build roads into them and sand and washed rock for backfill. :biggrin_255: Really short deadhead home when you're done, plus you can stop by for ice tea and cookies between loads. Yes, I'm spoiled and I know it. :yes2557:

Dairyman, if you get back to pulling a hopper, you could string up a hammock in the space underneath the back slope! Its a little hard to get up into, but no one would ever think to look for you up there. Don't know about the dump, maybe just tie one up underneath the middle? Dress accordingly...:yes2557: :biggrin_2554:

Sorry to hear that Pawnd, hope you can get it sold and not be out anything.
