Concerning Vulcan 1999's post. Been there, done that, but mom didn't smoke or drink or eat blue cheese dressing. Water from the hose is better than bottled, if you let it run until cooled (grew up in south Texas). Ah the good old days!!! Although some things are better today.
But what really burned me up about the 'new way' of raising kids? When the Phd school principal could not control my son, who did he call? Me, of course, but then he would tell me that "your ways will not work. You need to learn the modern way to handle these kids!"
My response to him, "Why did you call me? Because, your way does not work and mine does? Maybe you are the one that needs to learn something"
We put the kid in a private school, with discipline, teachers that could teach and were worthy of respect!

 

Well I won't be working for JCT. They called me in at the end of the day and said they decided not to hire me. The truck you use for road test will only do 65mph and I was on the turnpike and never got above 60 and he said that a car passed me and I did not reduce my speed to increase the following distance. They were whizzing by me so why would I decrease my speed I was not even close to tailgating any of them since they were flying by me. The thing is though that whenever someone did something wrong he would tell them right when they did it and he never said a word to me when I supposedly did that for me to even argue it or even know when this allegedly happened. They did send another guy home for rolling back maybe a foot as he was leaving a place that we swapped drivers. There was a few guys whose road tests were terrible and they did not get sent home even one of them could not even get the truck in gear to downshift at all he was just coasting to a stop. What I believe was really the case is me and the other guy were both big guys and that is why we were sent home. I quit a job to go to work there that I can not get back. It really aggravates me because I have been waiting for a long time to get a job at JCT and was just waiting for me to get to 18 months at Marten so JCT would hire me. So just a warning if you are a big guy I would not quit a job to go work there because you will probably get sent packing too!

 

hmmm, I was on a road test with a big stinky guy from swift who stalled it 2 times and could not down shift either...... he didn't get sent home, and there was a few other "big" guys that got thru just fine too..

they have no regard for a person when it comes to things like that!!

also, i want to add some information about a post a few days ago. The DM's and others read this thread. Shannon told me himself that he too reads this, and has contacted drivers in response to something they posted on here.

JCT is a business! and they run it to succeed. just like any other company if you do not fill the seat they will hire someone else to fill it. if your under any disillusion that anyone at JCT is your friend and is working for you, you are WRONG.

I was personally told by Laura Watkins that "you called us and asked for a job, and we gave you one!" and when I questioned the billing that was done at the shop I was called a "nip picker"!
if paying to remove equipment from a truck that was on it when I got it is nip picking than I say pick away!!!

I would like to know what the turnover rate is at JCT, if you ask them they tell you "its not that high" but i would disagree.. and how many trucks really get to the $1 buy out??? i know there is a few, but honestly what would be the reason behind this when JCT can sell it for $20,000 or so to a dealer or another person..

I am sorry it did not work out for you BigKid2. I don't know what the reason might have been, but I do know that there are other "big guys" working for JCT... so that was not the reason. As stated in this thread... it is 100% that you are hired until you get through orientation, so try not to burn bridges when applying. It sucks, but that is just the way it is.

 

OK... I'm not replying to Jarbo directly since he says he has deleted his account and never coming back... but I feel we were just hit by a drive by... what is the deal here lately??? There has been so much negativity... and MIAs... I am beginning to wonder if the forum mood has to do with it.

What happen to being a place to share info and support one another?
