How many straps needed per IBC tote?

This style is more for wood skids but there’s different styles and they will grab against the frame of the tote.

 

OP, just wondering a few things.

What type of tote? There are a few.

Your trailer or LS? Does it have etrack?

If it does, Harbor freight have the right straps for it?

Those are really crap straps.

LTL Bull has it right, but you should have a couple of shoring bars in the front and in between a few going down the row.

I would also put two straps from opposite sides for each group of two. Lateral movement is as important as stopping forward movement.

I would also use friction pads, they make a lot of difference in movement.

 

All the single ones need one strap over the top. Lowest etrack point in the wall. That way you are angling down. The forward and backward movement is blocked by front of trailer and other totes. The last single tote needs over the top and the back to stop backward movement.
The double totes how much space between the walls and the totes. Maybe cross crossing over the tops of them with two total straps would work. Wood bracing would be good for forward and backward movement of these totes.


Is their left right movement blocked by the trailer?

 

One on every tote. Looking at that diagram, one over the top of the singles, two over the tops of the doubles, or in back of them.

 

28 straps seems ridiculous

 

He doesn’t need any straps over them. He’s loading them in a van.as long as they’re snugged up to one another with some securement at the rear he’s golden

 

C’mon now! Did Landstarve school you up? Inquiring minds want to know. Did they give you a different way to load? Just for future reference My personal favorite is anti skid material under totes in a metal floor trailer and nailed dunnage in a wooden floor box. Did you get a little surge from the load?
