Do slide axle spreads have seperate leveling valves? Don't guess I've noticed it before on one

cke, Kyle G. and Oxbow Thank this.

If they have only one and it is defective or slow acting that could explain it. I had something similar. Kept skidding tires on one axle. Valve was working but slowly. Changed valve and voila! Problem went away. I don’t know that much about the inner guts of the valve, we figured it got dirt or moisture in it causing it to not keep up. Loaded and empty it was leaving one axle lighter and when breaking it would lick the tires on the light axle. Didn’t do it all the time either.

You were right. None of my trailer airbags are inflated

Good catch. Makes sense now that you say that. Trucks break traction easy with air bags down.

Little nuggets to keep in mind

Ok. Here is the stupidest thing in the world. I had my suspension dump valve in the drain position. So that was the culprit. And that was the reason for my weight station overweight on a single axle.
Explains why 4th axle had only 6k lbs and 5th axle had 28k lbs but it doesn’t explain the 3500lbs gross weight difference between the weight station scale and the cat scale

LTL Bull and Kyle G. Thank this.

This is the biggest stupidity that I have encountered on my part. But wtf DOT you guys do inspections everyday. Would’ve been nice if you would’ve told me check your suspension valve. Something mechanically isn’t right…might be a safety thing!

I had left the suspension valve in the dump position which basically explains everything that’s why airbags were deflated

I have already dropped the load off. Here is a picture that I took this morning but you can’t see much of anything.

I have always had only one leveling valve on my spread trailers, but I also install individal dump valves for each axle. Driver error could cause this by messing with the dump valves while crossing a scale I suppose. I just can't imagine who would do such a thing!

cke, kylefitzy, TripleSix and 4 others Thank this.
