From a business perspective TA/Petro has no cost in running a restaurant and they get to charge for the space to another chain. I'm sure that it is more profitable this way.

TA in Wapakoneta, Ohiiiiio
It’s not a Country Pride.
Had the buffet last time there..all the T-Bone steaks you can eat..sliced thin.
If you order off the regular menu the Lasagna is really good.
It’s an old place with character..or as some may say, a dump. Personally I really like the place and the people are nice there.homeskillet, Nostalgic and hotrod1653 Thank this. -
Should have read ahead dang it I been oxbowed.
Exit 44 on 1-30 Prescott Arkansas not at the TA the other side of the big road is an old Gulf pride truck stop. Has the old type showers in the restrooms upstairs. ( pretty neat as far as memories lol) anyway right beside it is a pretty good 24 hour restaurant. I’m not certain about buffet though. Hoods in Bo dark Mo has a fair restaurant at the moment. They change management often and qualityLast edited: Nov 23, 2024

Biggest issue I see is that restaurants in truck stops do NOT understand drivers don’t have time to spend an hour and 20 minutes on a meal. Anyone remember drivers standing by their table to signal the staff they were in a hurry?
A truck stop restaurant needs to serve decent food FAST. A buffet is great for that. So is the old family style menu ( you know, Spaghetti on Monday, Chili on Tuesday, fried chicken on Wednesday, etc).
instead, truck stops bring in people from the food service world where food is entertainment and people want to spend two hours at a table with their date.
Two different worlds.navypoppop, REO6205 and CorsairFanboy Thank this. -
One thing I hate with most T/S going to fast food is its far from healthy for you. Another one is, I want to get out of the truck for a bit and sit down with a decent meal. The buffet was great for that.
Petro Iron Skillets were good at one time for throwing a Sunday morning breakfast buffet. I do miss those.cke, hotrod1653 and navypoppop Thank this. -
