TA Kenly, NC I-95

Thats a tough question since everyone has a different standard. IMO it has a lot to do with the management and crew that makes or break a T/S. Also T/A took over a lot of T/S's. Some of these buildings should've been torn down and rebuilt.

 

Last time I was there (Kenly TA) it was being revamped, so it's hard to compare to others since it's been renovated. Even then though, all the amenities were acceptable(showers/bathrooms)and the restaurant was clean and the food was good for a TA. Some TA's are pretty old and could use some updating but most of them are halfway decent.

I preferred TA over most others for the simple fact that MOST of them have ample parking. The "chain" restaurants aren't the greatest in the world, but there's a lot of TA's with independent restaurants and many of those are excellent (TA in Morris, IL and the Iowa 80 for example). As far as truck stop chain restaurants go, I preferred the J's.

Just depends where you are. There are good Pilots too (rare though) as well as Flying J's but ALL (the chains) have good and bad facilities (Pilots are usually the worst for parking and facilities though and many are a real pain to even fuel at).

There are many good truck stops out there other than the big 3 chains (the mom and pops) and some of those are also horrbile lol. Once you get out there you'll find which you like best. You don't really see a lot of lot lizards out there (some areas yes but not most). Beggers are a real pain though and they could pop up just about anywhere but mostly near the big cities is where you find them.
