Yeah I have the Murphys golden tool also, thats what I called my cheater bar, still haven't gotten the complete hang of the dismount tool, have lots of trouble on the second bead, but have only dismounted like 6 tires total in my lifetime, and to be honest if I'm not reusing them like I was today, it wasn't as much of a pia as it was today

 

Great, another thing to add to the list of dumb #### I want to build.

 

You got us beat. Wife and I celebrating being on the correct side of the dirt another day.

 

Wife and her cousin are in a dance class together, the whole class took turns dancing at the lighting of the tree in Huntington last night. They like to stop for Mexican on the way home each week after class. Their group had to dress like the 1940’s, I thought they did pretty good. I imagine @blairandgretchen and @wore out can spot her since they’ve both met her….

What makes it worse is having to do it because you don't think there's a tire shop around who won't eff it up.

Pay 40-50$ a tire and have valve stems you can't see, stripped studs, polished wheels on the inside...

 

You should join the dance class...I'm sure ya wife would let ya borrow one of her Dresses...lol

 

After you get the first bead broke over the rim, lay a short 2x4 on its side under the sidewalk of the tire before you try to grab the 2nd bead. As you pull the handle up reach over and lift the opposite side of the tire to insure the 2nd bead is in the deepest portion of the wheel, roll the handle on over and shuck it off slick as a hounds tooth. I bought a bucket of lube you add water to, works quite well for me. Make sure the tool is lined up and handle is against the ground on each bead, then I shove it in with my foot to lock the fingers under the bead….

 

Ha…. Watching me kickstart my old Shovelhead and dancing is what caught her eye long ago lol….
