The trucking industry in general is a lost cause. So is the USA and Canada for that matter. Race to the bottom. They made that choice for us back in the 1970's and it wont ever get better or change, until something big and undeniable happens. (What that will be or when I have no idea)

A gentleman has to know when to quit when he's ahead, or at least before it's too late. It may not be the wake-up call he wanted but is probably the one he needed.

There are still some 1-truck owner-ops who can make it work, but it ain't as easy nowadays and continues to get harder year after year. (Not that it ever was easy). I haul for a living with my own truck and have driven locally and long haul as a company driver so I have seen the good, bad and ugly of it. It's a lot of ugly these days and is turning into a real joke of an occupation. I don't say that gleefully because I really enjoy trucking and hate the idea of having to get some boring normal guy job because trucking just turned into a ridiculous waste of time and not even close to being worth the risk involved, but that's what it's trending towards.Bret1984 Thanks this.

Grow a pair and just say no, it's that easy. I say it every single day. While you're at it, forget the word backhaul.

I have noticed, after the election, freight rates have gone up about .10c permile. I'm a tanker guy.
Also, fuel has gone done about .10c nationwide this week.Bret1984 Thanks this. -
Easy to post on the internet, some of us have to take what we can get to make a living. Most everyone in this industry has learned to deal with 100-300 mile deadheads without pay to get to a better paying run. That #### happened in the 90'sOpus Thanks this.

Excuses. Park it and go get a real job. If you're hauling it you're part of the problem.NorthEastTrucker, Bret1984 and Old_n_gray Thank this.
