That's a great idea...show them BEFORE they ever get behind the wheel.

I believe drivers' education SHOULD include these things.

After sitting in one of the larger Michigan Sec of State offices lately, I noticed the LCD tv's on the wall. Some of the things they were showing was a few tidbits about our blind spots, and I thought I saw one about leaving room for big trucks. Didn't look like many others were paying attention tho. Seemed to be too busy yapping on their cellphones before being waited on.

Hey, how about these states asking for some of us, or some of us volunteer, to "try" and educate them? Problem I see is getting rid of the preconceived notions many of the kids have already gotten from their illconceived parents.:biggrin_255:

They aren't preconceived, they set in a way that is exceptionally hard to change. When any habit is learned, it is generally set into motion by example, this example isn't only the parents, (in this case driving) but by all others around them...and this includes the ones who should be showing a SHINING example...Leo's! And let's be fair about this...there are many, many truckers who don't show a good example of driving, and road courtesy.

Oh yeah, 10/4 on the example thing. Can't disagree there at all. By preconceived I was thinking on the lines of how we have 18 wheels, hence 18 brakes. I know I can't be the only one that's heard that one! I was leaning towards the unlicensed driver that listens to soccer Mom/Dad who likely instilled the preconceived notions on how we operate. And we all know how Mom/Dad couldn't be wrong when it comes to bashing those big mean truckers.LOL:biggrin_255:

How about setting up some 20' containers as simulators of big trucks and drop them at schools all over the country for the kids to have a drive of first and see what and how bigrigs behave before they go for their license.:yes2557:
