No sir, I will not park my truck. I start making money at 1.46/ mile. When I pay off my cascadia next year it I'll start making money at .86 / mile. I will NOT accept your advice to " get put of the business", nor do I have to make any excuses, my bills are getting paid.

Sounds like you're still profitable. So stop crying and accept the fact that there will be cycles that run lockstep with the economy.

Frankly, I think you're running cheap freight already so you need to understand that "cheap" is a relevant term and expecting your competition to shut down so you can prosper is a ridiculous notion.

I suspect that cheap freight is Darwin’s solution to natural selection in trucking.
Survival of the fittest in a brutally real environment.
There are those that know and understand their business and those that don’t.
We’ve all witnessed drivers (term used very loosely) that we wonder how they get up and tie their shoes without falling over each morning, out on the road.
Current markets are tough to say the least, and everyone is chasing profitability to get through until markets improve.
Times like this weed out the uneducated and ignorant for the most part, and freedom of choice allows for precisely that- run loads as you deem fit for your business model.
Most are aware there’s dead zones in freight… Florida and Phoenix come to mind…. Where lots of loads go in but nothing comes out, creating a huge surplus of demand leaving that area, driving rates into the bottom of the barrel.
The question that enters my mind is, is it better to get some money to relocate to a better area, or eat the deadhead miles?
I honestly don’t have an answer here.
Perhaps more experienced folks can answer this dilemma?
My business mind says mitigate the loss, take the best money available to get to a better paying lane to mitigate the expenses to do so.

I'm not crying, I'm paying taxes and paying off my mortgage at 4%. I got 2 years left on it at these rates.

Am I doing it wrong? I'm grossing 175 per year on the truck, take home 50K after tax write offs, pay tax on 50K...

I'm not crying. I'm writing off almost 100K in expenses per year for the business.

If you have a better solution for me to make more money, I would be happy to hear it. Feel free to PM me who you work for, and gets you consistent mile per week.

    Is this a copy pasta?

    WTF?

How much do you legitimately expect to earn owning a truck? 100? 75?

I only run off the Schneider Tanker load board, because they own the DOT number on the side of my truck. So yeah I'm leased on. But they have consistent freight (that you call cheap). And they keep the bills paid. I don't have competition. Sorry you have a problem with SP500 listed companies stealing your loads.

I signed up because it's consistent "cheap" freight. I'm a businessman who pays his bills, and I need some sort of consistent when it comes to trucking.

So yeah, consistent 2.02/ miles works for me. It's called business.

Sorry you're not good at math skills.
