359/Caterpillar rear engine mounts

    Thanks for that, thats the sort of information l am after, Ive searched the internet high and low and found nothing, not even a picture, l have a spare 10 degree flywheel housing l can use, does/did the engine bracket fit the 3 x bush style chassis bracket from factory or were Cat installations completely different to Cummins ?, appreciate your help

    Yes. Sir. Pete has always set all the engines in at 10 degrees since the Mid 1950’s. The biggest problem is the 3406e’s are mounted farther ahead of cab than any of the other earlier cats were. Since the E wasn’t around in ‘81 time frame it is gonna be a custom to fit deal for sure. Keep in mind the trans will be in a different place too. More forward of original spot so the shifter hole in floor well have to be modified if not relocated a few more inches forward and closer to the dash.

    Are the bolt hole spacings on the top close to the same? I would cut the bottom of the mount down to smaller size and re drill it if need be.

    Ive set up a dummy E block in there, standard 379 front mount bracket to the 359 mount, l have also set the radiator brackets to take a 379 radiator and cac. I started with 2 x blank rails, still have to drill the rear mounts as l wanted to see what was available first.

    Nothing lines up at all, about half a hole out, thinking of welding all the holes up, cutting it down as suggested then drilling new holes, l did contact Wilkins last year looking for mounts and they suggested using 379 ones, apparently its been done before.

    Bit off topic but thats how my conversions end up after doing a fight hand drive conversion, completely gut the cab and start from the shell

    There is an Okie out of our state of Oklahoma that has done a few. He just recently put an E model and a 1980 359 Corvette dash in a 1969 Unilite cab and chassis.
