    I think its just the size of them. Not a lot of hobbyists have that kind of room. I think its a very specific market and not a lot of demand.

    There was a nice old lathe at a local auction recently, lots of accessories and in excellent condition. It would have taken up an entire pickup bed to haul it home. Winning bid was $1500 CAD.

    Not to mention the ways/guides/lead screws are likely worn and not as accurate as they once were, fine for occasional use but not so good if you're trying to produce parts with tight tolerances on a production-type scale.

    This particular lathe apparently came from the estate of a gunsmith. I'm no expert on lathes by any means but it definitely didn't seem to be too worn out.

    I like a little heat . With sausage gravy. But if I have gravy with biscuits it's usually red eye gravy.
