The 12.7 Detroit is pretty bulletproof and fairly cheap to inframe.

Harrison assembled a decent amount of gliders. If it started out as a powered glider then it should have been a factory reman engine from Detroit. But if they were ordering rolling gliders with no engines then it could be a crap shoot. On a pre emission engine like that wouldn’t put as much weight into the hours/miles as I would with an emission engine. Plus there are too many variables. It could’ve been a reman or overhauled at the time they assembled it and somewhere along the line the ECM was replaced with a used one.

I think Harrison got bought out but if you look up the Freightliner dealer in Waterloo or Clear Lake Iowa they might be able to help you. I believe that’s where Harrison built most of the gliders they sold.

Harrison is probably one of the better gliders from what little I seen about them when they were selling them. Seem like they were asking top dollar when new.

You might get some information from RigDig report. Detroit Diesel probably has info if you had engine serial number. Maybe the ECM was replaced and that why the mileage might not be correct. Even the dashboard in the truck could have been changed it would only show the mileage from day it was replaced. So it could be wrong on dash display and the ECM on the engine might have the real numbers. If Detroit Diesel worked on the engine they would probably the history and that would probably include the mileage.

The motor would be 1999 or older.

    Wouldn't it?

Depends on the asking price a 12.7 is not all that expensive to overhaul I’d buy it and run it.

10 year old Truck. 25 year old engine. Glider. I understand wanting to know the exact original build and history in service. It’s almost impossible. A current evaluation/guesstimate might be the only option.
