In my opinion a glider is always a good option. If I were you, I would find out if the engine was built with genuine Detroit OEM parts. In a Detroit you don't want an aftermarket rebuild.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Lonemountain has newer trucks.
Original trucks in the 300k mile range.
For $60g.
One of them I'd be tempted to buy if it had bigger fuel tanks.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Better get this one
Dino soar and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Anytime you buy a old truck you are buying cores and something that needs a motor/big repair, not sure what the core is on a Detroit but it’s about $2000 core for an rtlo 13/18 and another $3k for the diffs, from there depending on condition of everything else but since most gliders were hacked together to begin with I would bet it’s a 20-30k truck.

It’s hard to say how much any Truck is worth without seeing it in person. IMO almost every Truck for sale is only worth about half the asking price. All anyone can do is decide what to buy, look for the best deal they can find. This thread got me looking at Coronado Gliders and FLD132 Classics. I can’t find many. I’m usually pretty good at finding Trucks for sale. Found a Classic like mine for $79k. Lol. Twice what it’s worth IMO. If I sold mine, the only Truck I would buy is a Coronado glider, with a 12.7 Detroit, 13 spd, and 355 or 342 rears. I’d pay $50-$70k for a real nice one. If I were in the market. I think I’m done buying Trucks. Still fun to look for deals.

Thx for the input ride and repair
That's the specs I'm looking for.
I guess I'll keep looking.
Thx -
That truck that the other person listed is absolutely what you should try to buy.
That guy did a lot of work on that truck and he has records for it.
If you're going to buy a glider like that you're going to pay top dollar for it. You might as well buy it from someone that's realistic about what it's worth that has done all the work to it so you can just work.
I don't care if it's a glider or what it is. Some unknown truck with an unknown Engine with unknown miles with an unknown ECM or unknown conditions with no paperwork whatsoever and no history.
To me that's worth very little because glider or not is irrelevant. It sucks when you buy an old piece of crap that's worn out that somebody just got rid of, and they got something good and unloaded their crap on you.
The best thing to do is find an owner operator that's retiring that took care of his truck and has all the records.
Pay top dollar for it and enjoy it.
You'll be way far ahead than buying other people's junk. -
Problem with owner trucks is they all have recent rebuilds with no papers.
Along with other repairs and no records. -
