1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Good luck if you think you will make anything pulling cans in the southeast as a newbie O/O. The money in cans is in the short haul stuff, and with most companies load assignments are seniority based.

You might try Premier or Brown. I don't know what they pay, but I know they do a lot of shorthaul southeast stuff which seems to me like what you are looking for.

Check with the tanker carriers . You'll probably have to put a pump and compressor on your truck . There's a lot of chemical hauling out of Texas . If you didn't buy a truck yet you might be able to find one already equipped to pull tankers .

i've heard brown is good, plus they get by the house regularly. my buddy parted with national freight to work for premier,so they may be a good choice also.

What kind of truck are you buying? What kind of trailer will you be pulling?
Are you thinking of going cross country below the I-40 corridor? Have you considered going online and working with a broker? Hey are you looking for a co-driver? I have some trucking friends that own their own trucks and use brokers for their loads. Its all fairly easy on the internet, once you obtain your authority and permits, fuel taxes and book keeper/accountant.
