Ahh! I never drove a big truck with automatic so don't even know what that would be like however it might be enjoyable to just step on the pedal and go Shifting on long hauls gives you something to do I guess.
Automatic VS stick
Tell you a funny short one though. Back in the sixty's my dad drove an XKE ('68) you know has the long nose on it and pretty fast. It was a stick and he commuted quite a ways so as you can imagine the gear box got a workout. My mom had a Bonneville. My dad was driving and the whole family was going to church. My dad steps on the gas and that 428 got er moving we could feel our backs get pressed in the seats a bit and WEEERRTTT!!! Now we are all propelled in the forward direction because he then mashed the gas to....... yup... the brakes. He subconsciously was pushing in the non existing clutch to shift. He was so used to clutching he just in one second gave everyone quite a start. Lucky no-one was behind us! This came to my mind, sorry, I had to share!
