Yes, inner tube.

 

For what?

 

To put inside the tire......

 

Just to drive to point home on why i carry plugs. There's not a tire shop i know of that would put a patch on that small nail hole. That tire still has 70% or better of tread, and will likely run out with no further issues.

 

Never knew something like this existed until reading this thread a couple weeks ago. Came in the mail today, hopefully it never needs to be used...

 

I woulda bought the other kit.. comes with a ring you push down on the plug to keep the plug in place while you pull the tool out.

 

I love my kit. It’s saved me lots of time and tires.

ive plugged enough ties with that kit I’m Almost due to get some more plugs. It’s never been an Issue. The only plugs I’d have come out were where the hole was too big. That was a two plug job and it held for another 10k miles before I turned the truck in.

 

I put in a couple plugs with the cheap AutoZone kit. They both came out. I thought maybe I wasn't getting them in deep enough. This last time I plugged it I made sure it got really far in and put a ton of rubber cement on it but I think it's backing out again. I know I won't be able to put two plugs through there by hand maybe what I need is one of these good kits. If this last plug doesn't hold I'll see about getting it patched

 

Plugs aren't going to hold.

100 psi is too much for them.

I had a shop do what you did. And they got it to hold (after 5 tries) so I could travel to the tire shop and get it patched. This was a wide tire on the trailer. Real PITA.

 

There are combination plug & patches. They are installed from the inside of the tire.
