70 hours drive time required. We ended up doing more like 80 due to the company not able to get us back to terminal.
On my first day in the truck trainer sat up front for a couple hours then went into his bunk to sleep. That dude could go from talking to snoring like a freight train in 30 seconds.
Training was somewhat helpful for backing and learning the company provided ELD but in reality it was more cheap team driving for the company. We rode hard at least 18 hours a day. I kept in mind another post where a driver fell out of the top bunk while truck was moving so I did not sleep in the bunk while moving.

OP I like your attitude.
In this world nobody gives and nobody is owed.
Sounds like you are taking it all in like a sponge and filtering the chaff.
Just keep your head down, work hard and learn, and keep the eyes looking towards tomorrow..
Me thinks you'll get out alive and find something more suitable and substantial in the industry.
Good luck on yaLonesome, mjd4277 and RollinChaos Thank this. -
I'll throw my hat in the ring. I worked for Southern Refrigerated Transport from 2017 until they were shelved in 2020. I believe and want to still believe they had a worse reputation than Western does. Go ahead and look up that horrendous story. However, while I was a driver for them, I got along great with my driver manager and the team he was in charge of. I saw a lot of California, some New York and a quick trip to Oregon from Massachusetts. Like Western, it wasn't always sunny days, but I wouldn't change a thing I did or the people who were there for the ride with me. All I did was buckle down and do the job that was asked of me . That was it. Many claimed that they couldn't make money with SRT. I made quite a bit and even stayed to lease where it got better until David Parker axed the entire operation. Still miss the company to this day.
To the OP. I hope nothing but the best for you in your career. I'm out of the game now for other personal reasons, but I still watch this forum to see what others are doing and see if I can offer some sort of ambivalence and encouragement to others who are just starting. I miss it but, it got to be too much of a hassle and in the job I was in, the money just wasn't there and I couldn't see myself going back OTR after leaving the first time. Good luck and hope you continue to succeed.
Oink, Oink.

I should give Western some credit. While doing a Post-Trip on my 34 hour reset noticed two tire issues. Submitted the report and 2 hours later a mobile tire tech was replacing both.
The 1st with the yellow circles was a possible nail in a drive tire. I circled the M919 for reference in case I had to roll before it was replaced.
2nd was a chunk missing from trailer tire.
Most likely could have kept rolling on those but why risk a DOT issue.Attached Files:

These "tire chunks missing" are an issue. I had to have BOTH of these tires changed.Attached Files:
