Nope, that was F. We went to -15F...heck that's nothing. We've had wind chilll to -50F..I think it was back in 1983? Was coming home from work and could see the ice on the road that tires melted refreeze behind them when they moved.
Ran the truck engine up in ND when it was -35 F around...2013?, because the APU couldn't keep the truck warm enough and I didn't want to deal with it freezing up, so ran it for the nights I was up there.

No problem. Heck, the Jimmy looks like the Volvo 430 I was stuck in for Swift...llived in that one too. Had to switch my stuff from the passenger seat to the bunk when driving.
It was the only thing that could handle the overweight Intermodal trailers they had coming out of the Napolean, OH Campbell's plant. It had one 150 gal fuel tank. Good times.

Yeah, I'm so glad my first time I got close to going down Monteagle, it was so foggy, I didn't want to take a chance...pulled in to the old truckstop that was there...and so glad I did. The next morning I saw what I was in for. It's not steep, if you can see it...but that night in the fog may have been my last night driving if I hadn't stopped.

Yes it's 41 little steeper than the interstate, lots more curves. I've ran it some when I was younger. I started driving in 1974 but I never drove a truck with a jake brake until early 90's. I learned to respect these little mountains we have in the east. The thing with Monteagle is people get too comfortable if they've been over it before thinking there's nothing to it. I miss the old truckstop that was across the interstate from the one there now.singlescrewshaker, The_vett, cke and 10 others Thank this.
