NO, cable coax is 75 ohms and you need 50 ohms.1catfish Thanks this.

Maybe this antenna is the answer for you. That way you won't have to waste time trying to find a good cb antenna book. This fellow in the video sure is singing its praise anyway.
FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
Well I'm not from Missouri, but the state line is just a few miles north of me.Night Stalker10 Thanks this.

Craig, no, I'm not yanking your chain. I came across this video and I thought it would be very interesting to see how well this antenna would work on a class 8 truck. I thought you would be the best candidate to try it. Since I'm retired now and I'm no longer driving, it would be tough for me to do the experiment myself.
I see they are using flat aluminum in a coil design, to try and help make up the missing electrical part of the antenna (ground plane) that today's trucks are missing. This isn't really anything new to antenna designs. Years ago I had a Ringo Ranger 2 meter base antenna that used a single aluminum coil at the base, and it worked great.
Since the guy showed himself running down the highway at 70 mph and the antenna was still vertical. I would think that this antenna would work just as well or maybe better than the 7 foot Skip shooter? At least no PVC would be needed. Just wondering what your thoughts would be.mike5511 Thanks this. -
I'm retired too, but I use a class 8 to pull my RV. I didn't listen to the video long enough to hear the price, but I figure it is ridiculously expensive. I can't imagine it working better enough to justify, what is probably 3 or 4 times, or more, the cost of the 7ft SkipShooter you mentioned. Be fun to play with though and test.

All this talk/chat about antennas has given me an itch. My Wilson 2k that I’ve had since the late 80’s(lost track) has done me well. Been thinking about switching to something else, like the SRA-10, or Siri, maybe the Hustler HQ27B
. Or should I just stick with what I have. Been working flawlessly. I did add/switch the shaft to 18”.

Ya I don't think the price was mentioned in the video, but I did find the antenna on dx engineering for $190.

I assumed it would be around $100 or more. Although the Wilson 2000 and the dual k40 antennas are about $100 at the truck stops the last time I looked. I think it would be very interesting to compare this antennas numbers on Craigs truck, compared to his skip shooter antenna using his zoom analyzer.
No doubt it is a little pricey, but I guess you could argue that people will spend $300 - 500 on a super tuned export radio, and yet they don't want to spend $50 or more for a decent antenna. Therefore the $20 fire stick looks pretty good to them. Ha. Don't forget the $200 external speaker too. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the money should be spent on a decent antenna system, instead of the radio. At least that's what my Spidey senses tell me.handlebar and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Lol, I get what you're saying about that itch. Personally over the years, trying different antennas was half the fun when it comes to radios. I guess if for some reason a new antenna doesn't work as good for you, you still will have your Wilson to fall back on.
