1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. I don't know why you want just 2 or a few years of experience but if it is for a local
gig then read what was posted in another thread.

There's a lot of construction companies, I'm thinking of gravel type jobs, that won't even consider an OTR driver, (mostly because they see otr drivers as whiny little ####### who cause more grief than they're worth), but are more than willing to work with student grads.

But if you're looking to try the field out, the very best way for you to do that is to see if you can handle being in a truck 8-12 hours a day and home every night. If you can swing that for a couple of years, and don't get married or start a family in the meantime,

you may have the goods to be OTR.

No company is the best company for everyone, yes you will read bad things about a company but thats base from that person experience with them. There not much companies that will hire a newbie without experience,so a company like Swift or Werner is a start.Onces you get some experience, you pretty much can go anywhere.

All depends on what company will work for you.I started at werner back in 07.I would call swift, werner, stevens transport, etc just to name a few.Don't wait to long,if you been out of school more than 3 months, your out of gas.You will have to take a refresher program and waste another $1500.00.You will not get a local gig without at lease a mi.of 12 months experience even more.
