Now, I know that I am a little bias when it comes to the N.C. Troopers, but I can't resist from posting this. Read the entire article and see how the system works.

I know there's no double standard at work here!
I'm sure that those nice officers would have done the same thing 4 any of us civilians!!!
Once again the thin blue line closes ranks and protects 1 of their own!
Equal enforcement of the law my ###!!!
If that was 1 of us our lives would have been ruined and our careers over.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
I know there is a lot of politics and favoritism in police depts. I have several friends in different agencies and I am well aware of what goes on between them. I do not think it is right, but one dept in a big city no officer would write a ticket on a wife of a officer. I have also had 2 friends that was 20 year veterans and one got caught up in political wars and was set up by the dept.
I have another friend who in fact was wrong in what he did, but they through the book at him and he got 6 months jail time when someone else on the street would probably have not got that much time. They will make an example of an officer, but I think a lot of that depends on whose enemy you become within the dept.
I have another friend who is retired. He was a IN master trooper. When him and his boy was out on a fishing trip they was traveling through a sleepy little town. He was speeding a little bit and the officer that pulled him over was over bearing and being a jerk. Big fish little pond syndrome. My friend could have gotten out of the ticket, but had just gave his son the man up speech. When you do something wrong you take responsibility for it. He looked over at his son that had his arms crossed watching dad handling this situation and took the ticket and did not try to talk his way out of it. He said it would not have been so bad if the cop was not such a jerk.
The problem with this issue is this cop was drunk and driving. I think the penalty should be up and above what it is for a civilian who is stopped for the same offense. -

What do you think if this same Trooper stopped a trucker for being over on his HOS??? Or if the trucker had a light out?? Did you hear about the N.C. Trooper for giving a trucker a ticket for having a flat tire? Yes it did happen, the trucker was already sitting on the shoulder with the flat when this N.C. Trooper came along and issued the trucker a ticket for a flat tire. Read all about it here:

Isnt That special? $100 for getting a flat tire. holy cow!
I wonder what the fine is when you blow in a motor? Maybe they would consider that a hazardous materials release so they can charge you twice as much!
It's probably a capital offense to have a heart attack in north carolina! -
Although, N.C. is my home state, they have gone crazy as hell. At one time, several years ago when some major carriers had their home offices in N.C., the trucking industry had some "clout" but not now. And since the state has combined the DOT and the Highway Patrol, it is like driving through Nazi Germany.
I just talked to a very close friend, who was Sheriff in a eastern county in N.C. and he told me that several meetings that he went to on law enforcement, they always had "HAPPY HOUR" and the troopers drove home afterwards. -
Nice. I checked into joining the michigan state police. I'd love to be a diesel bear. Anyway, you cant even have any moving violations in the last two years before going to their school. WTF?
Maybe i need to just move to north carolina!
Edit: Ok, you can have up to 3 moving violations. But still, in NC it's ok to drink and drive if youre a cop! -

Small towns have the same problem, and not just with the police department, itself.
Where I lived years ago, there was a judge who routinely gave even first time drug offenders (talking users here, mostly)the stiffest penalties law allows. which, in itself, is not a bad thing...
UNTIL, you know that the same judges wife is a meth head, and is routinely pulled out of meth houses, given a ride home, while everyone else in the house is arrested.

One of my sisters used to be married to a local LEO who eventually was named chief of police of a small town.
He and his buddy on the force used to drive to another town, 40 miles away, for nights out on the town with their wives. They didn't bother getting a DD. As my sister said to me one time, they believed their badges were all they needed to get home. -
I think they refer to it as "professional courtesy". Yep -- REAL professional, in my book..
simplyred1962 and truckerdave1970 Thank this.
