Hey guys I went to Nashville Tech got my CDL. 36 days of school. You get PTDI certified that opens you up to get hired anywhere, including Crete. I don't have a lap top yet. I am OTR for Swift right now.
Check all of the TN Techs. I heard they do a weekend class in Shelbyville from another Swift driver.
The school is $1400 total. I got mine completetly paid for by the WIA. They even paid me some gas money to go. If you are paying cash the lottery fund will pay $600 dollars.
615 425 5600 that is the number for Wanda the secretary there.

your credit could not be worse than mine and I got accepted ..... ex wife left me a huge tax bill, medical bills, etc .... had to declare bankruptcy which wrote off over 500k ..... so don't let the credit ck bother you ..... I drove for Roehl (8 months) before coming to Schneider and wish I had come to SNI first ..... my experience with Roehl was terrible .....
bigcove Thanks this. -

At the Wch walmart dc, what all did you take on the truck? I know you have to try to keep it simple since they do slip seat, when I got off the truck with Gordon I filled my pick up truck with so much stuff I had. Im still debating about getting back in the truck again, thanks for any input. good luck in Tn. -

Thank you GRC ,,,,,that is exactly what I have been waiting to hear from you. I had followed your time with Roehl and felt like you had tried to paint a fair and ethical experience in your posts and that they were written with credibility. Since I am riding in the same boat at a later time, I was letting you provide the snapshots of what I may be facing. Again, I do understand different drivers can experience another complete facet of a company, nothing is ever exactly the same, but paths can very possibly be similar in scope and experience.
I didn't want to solicit you for your above quote, but was hoping you would offer this submission freely just as you have done. Again, I submit my sincere gratitude. -

I did get to talk with a Schneider driver at a truck stop today. He had been with Schneider for a year OTR. He was a little skeptical about the regional position and thought the recruiter had given me some mis-information,but wasn't sure. He seemed pretty happy with the company and said that Schneider would be a great place for a new driver to start. That helped to confirm my instincts that I was leaning toward the best company of all my pre-hires. I will give them a call tomorrow to see if my background check has been completed yet.

I had read your posts and yours and your husband's experience did concern me as well. I have experienced a change in operations do to a new chief, albeit in a different industry. The atmosphere in my previous company changed drastically as well, so I know what you are talking about. It is sad when you are used to working with an employer (18 years) and things as you know it change drastically and become less personal then what an employee is used to. Before it was like family with the CEO coming and talking with employees on a regular basis and knew many of 6000 employees by name. The new CEO rarely came into production operations area and could careless who worked there. So goes modern companies I guess. It is a sad world we have become. Technology is a wonderful tool, but business still needs to be conducted by relationships. Employee morale is governed by more than just a paycheck.Last edited: Apr 26, 2010

I agree 100%. I have been with a company for 23 yrs. Over the last 3 yrs. things have gotten progressively worse. Management has changed and things just aren't getting any better. I used to think I could retire from this company but now I dread coming to work. I will be taking my cdl classes in July with hopes to get out on the road sometime in late August or early Sept.
Companies no longer see faithful employees as assets. We are just another warm body who can be replaced by some temporary person or someone off the street. They don't take into consideration all the knowledge we have gained over the years and our relationship with our customers. Sorry for rambling on. This just makes me very aggrevated. Hope you all have a good day and keep us posted on how things are going for you all.bigcove Thanks this. -
Imstarting orientation with SNI May 2nd. I guess I got out of Roehl before things got bad on my end, however I had a few times that made me seriously consider leaving my truck on the side of the road. But I attribute those time to my micromanaging Dispatcher (April). All in all, it wasn't nearly as bad as what I dealt with from Werner. Im really excited to start with them as I was offered the southeast regional run, home every weekend. We'll see how it goes.
