I hate to see you open it up outside without being ready with everything. You assume at this point that you have a liner protrusion problem I guess? If so it's more than just a head gasket. Maybe you can get by with a gasket and get a year or so out of it? Sounds like @Big Road Skateboard is in the same deal.

I am expecting a full rebuild , but I am going to start with testing injector cups first because I don't have any combustion gas in cooling system and no excess pressure. I do know it's burning coolant on 3 different cylinders tho because I pulled exhaust manifold when I parked it and 3 ports were slightly wet and valve stems were shiny amd steam clean ... not going to open it up right now, just thinking everything through . I need more time off to do that.. I am definatly not going to do a half ### repair .. I've already went broke once from equipment problems amd this company driver #### is for the birds! Don't want to end up here againSons Hero, singlescrewshaker, broke down plumber and 6 others Thank this.

They let you cross? Thought they were shut down for wind. You ever stop at the truck stop on the north side. Heard the restaurant moved to the old big boy now.singlescrewshaker, exhausted379, broke down plumber and 7 others Thank this.

Very gracious offer sir. Thanks
Yeah, I'm gonna keep an eye out on the auctions for a Porta Tool to cut it myself. I've done a bunch of em way back.
For now it's gonna get a head gasket. Not 2 years on the overhaul yet, and everything inside (besides that blown head gasket) looks great. Still running great, no oil consumption, or any other issues.
If I can't come up with the Porta Tool, I'll buy the tool to cut it for shims and go that route.
Have you used the dye to check for gasses? Injector cups will put the same combustion gasses into the coolant as a head gasket, it's just gettin into the coolant from a different area.
That's an ISX isn't it? You have umloaded the air compressor to verify that isn't it haven't you?
Keep in mind when checking injector cups. On most engines, you can pull the injectors and pressure the cooling system to check cups.
The ISX cups will leak with the injectors removed. The tight injector seals the cup and O ring to the head. Leaks are even possible with a loose injector.singlescrewshaker, broke down plumber, Feedman and 5 others Thank this. -

I heard that it was shut down yesterday, today it pretty windy but everybody was crossing. I usually stop at the truck stop for load check and potty break, other than that I don’t stick around.singlescrewshaker, beastr123, exhausted379 and 6 others Thank this.

@cke, gentlemen, be careful out there. Text at you tomorrow.

Yes I did that test with the dye and it didn't test positive for gases. Would the air compressor cause it to burn coolant? I thought that may just pressurize the system . Which it is not pushing it. Just burning somewhere.
I'd be pissed if after all this that's all it was lol
That why I was qoing to test injectors first. Seems like easiest/cheapest place to start, other then compressor of courseLast edited: Jan 29, 2025

What's up with all these mfer's now and their bright green lights ?
If you need lights that bright because ur blind u probably shouldn't be driving ... but what do I know

Air compressor will pressurize the system and potentially put coolant in the air tank, but not normally burn it. Injector cups/O-rings will normally put fuel in the coolant. They may leak a small amount into the combustion chamber, but only if the truck isn’t running. Fuel and combustion gases have more pressure than the coolant. It’s most likely liner protrusion or a bad delete/tune causing too much head pressure.
EGR cooler will burn coolant also.singlescrewshaker, cke, sawmill and 9 others Thank this.
