I get paid by the mile. Not using split sleeper would cost me multiple hours in the flatbed world delivering and reloading the same day 3 times a week. It absolutely does cost me money in the long run.
You can believe what you want but my company and myself isn't mismanaging my truck. i did 160k miles last year on a flatbed running running 6 Western states for the most part.
Maybe you can, but I don't know how to control traffic. It takes 3+ hours on a good day to get out of LA in the afternoon going eastbound. Split sleeper helps me get out of it , otherwise I'd be stuck and unable to make deliveries later then usual losing a reload or more per week.
I'm not sure how that is mismanagement. To me it is the opposite. Knowing how to run your #### .

If it's costing you you're not being paid for your time. You're underpaid. It's just a way to legally fudge your logs in case somebody wastes your time so basically you're giving your time up for nothing. Or in your case so you can run really hard.

Right, you have to jack around and use a loophole to meet someone else's unreasonable expectations to make a paycheck. If you don't your paycheck suffers. Where I'm at now we don't do split sleepers and the paychecks are steady. That's how it ought to be for every driver out here. Back when I was doing split sleeper every time I ever did one I was always tired and aggravated that I had to do it. No load or amount of money out here is worth driving fatigued and risking everything over.

AI hallucinations are why you cannot trust what Google or ChatGPT tells you without double-checking yourself. It's wrong.
I suppose the nuance is that dot cannot find you for it but you can #### well be fired for it with no consequences.SoulScream84 Thanks this. -
You run your truck . I will run mine . If we all did #### the same way, life would be pretty ##### lame..
just because u don't like the split, doesn't make it wrong. But with that attitude you will do well with a career in politics, thinking your way is the only way. -

I am perfectly rested doing split breaks.. in fact i get more tired having to do 10 breaks. you sound alot like these politicians that think they know what's good for everyone.
if they would add a 6/4 or a 5/5 i would never do another 10 break ever again.. but unfortunately because there is monkey brains like you . we won't ever get to have something that niceSoulScream84 Thanks this. -
Back when I was pulling flatbed the 5 and 5 was amazing with paper logs. I could leave Sunday for Utah, do 2 rounds to Home Depot in Kalispell and do a Missoula Home Depot that delivered Friday night. Home early Saturday morning and leave again about 5 on Sunday afternoon. It was dang good money 20 years ago. Get 5 hours of sleep a day and the other 5 was unloading and reloading and tarping. Let the book catch up and take off again.
I love the split sleeper now and contrary to some opinions I don’t use it because my time is being wasted. It’s pretty easy for me to kill a couple hours in the middle of the day by the time I shower and cook some food and walk the dog. If it takes me 90 minutes to do that I just kill another 30 minutes so my clock gets paused. Then I only have to land for 8 hours at night.D.Tibbitt and SoulScream84 Thank this. -
