And, have you been doing that?
Personally know anybody who is & have seen the settlements under 1099 leasing the company's equipment anywhere?
It always sounds good, but the fat never seems to hit the pan.
Not trying to knock you, you are at least trying to do the figuring & work it out.
I'm just relating that I have personally seen a ton of failures under this usually technically illegal setup.

Is that it, he would come back to trucking if 1099 weren't a scam? What i get from this, is 1099 applies to all contract workers, therefore either he doesn't like to work, or doesn't understand how 1099 work. If people are here complaining about scams, perhaps it's their own ignorance that lead them to failure. Ever think of that?

It's not the carrier fault. IC's just don't know where to put their money at. Maybe they track and report everything properly, maybe they don't. There's a lot that goes into a 1099 that most people new to 1099 or trucking won't grasp right away until they start scratching their heads as to why they aren't seeing high yield. Then there's the deductions from carrier not adding up. You can always negotiate those with carrier. Instead of just letting them provide those services.

I am very well versed on what legal 1099 true contracting is. Have much experience doing just that with my OWN equipment.
Actually, at one point leased a truck independently (not from a carrier) & legally (the right way) leased it & trailer on to a carrier. Was completely independent contractor, able to haul any other load outside carrier or with carrier. Carrier had no control over outside haul, but for their % for using their authority.omaharj Thanks this. -
How long have you been 1099'ing?
How long have you been driving?
And again, have you been achieving the figures you are now factoring up?
Personally know anybody who is & have seen the proof?Last edited: Feb 7, 2025

Lonesome Thanks this. -
Oh yes, I am even more well versed personally about individuals ignorance & lack of knowledge about 1099 and the reasons for their failure. Personally knew one heck of a lot of them. Some, but very few, whom succeeded. Of those few, most would have done things very differently if able to go back.Last edited: Feb 7, 2025

Post count, longevity, and infractions history make a difference. Someone like you could tell us to pound sand and you would probably get a sternly written private message at most. A new member would quickly be shown the door.
Would you survive life outside of the forum? Absolutely, but what you contribute to this forum would be missed.MACK E-6, FullMetalJacket, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
