Serial Killer Truckers

The Internet says that there are approx 500k long haul CDL drivers. 450 serial killers would be less than one one thousandth of a percent of long haul drivers. It’s not an unrealistic number.

 

The FBI attributes roughly 850 homicides to truckers. I was incorrect using the term serial killer.

 

I remember years ago at the old TA truckstop in Nashville near the football stadium that they tore down while back they arrested a serial killer trucker. If you are not good with math, please don't attempt to create statistics. 450/500,000 = .0009. Move the decimal 2 spots to the right gives you .09, close to .1%, or 1 TENTH of a percent. You were only off by a factor of 100x.....

And most of those were probably "crimes of passion", when anger or animus lead to a death. Also, if you kill somebody when you crash your truck, that is also a homicide.

FWIW, I met a serial killer once about 45 years ago, before I drove a truck. He was taking women who were addicts and "ladies of the street", and killed maybe 6 before he got caught. He just cruised the sleazy places night-people used to go to back then (all-night diners, after-hours clubs, etc). I drove cab at night, so I got to see such things more often than I wanted to.

Since the FBI says that there are probably only 50 active 'serial killers', there are probably a few in the business, but 10-15 ain't nowhere near the numbers these drama-queens are spouting off with numbers they pull out of their rectums....

 

I saw this too and thought the same as you and have come to the conclusion that this production has one purpose, and that is to create fear.

If 450 active serial killer truckers were out there, the bodies would be everywhere.

5,400 victims would be produced if 450 serial killers dispatched one victim per month for a year. These numbers are staggering as you can see and would send the nation into a panic.

Definitely hogwash and BS as you state.

Oh wow I didn't realize that the ELD mandate was to meant to track serial killer truckers I thought it was all about keeping track of federally mandated hours of service.
