Growing up we had some of the old Mountain Dew bottles, had a picture of a “hillbilly” on the bottle. Things have changed for sure….

Yeah, I spend a lot of time on islands out on the river when I'm home. For a glass bottle and jar collector like my wife, these islands are like crack.
Years of people tossing trash, then floods, leave the islands full of "trash" basically. But the bottles I find are pretty cool.beastr123, cke, singlescrewshaker and 11 others Thank this. -
My old man has a crate of the old glass coke bottles from when he was a kid in the 70s.. kept em all these years . Always thought they were cool as hell. They don't make cool stuff like that anymorecke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this.

Speaking of the odd glass bottles, I find a lot of Gatorade glass. Never drank it as a kid so I don't remember it like all the other glass bottles of pop.
You can still buy the small glass bottles of Coke at home.cke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 8 others Thank this. -
We had 2 days of ice this week. Everything melted. Rained all all day Saturday. Woke up to this. It's a warm 28⁰ but headed back into the teens tonight.beastr123, cke, singlescrewshaker and 9 others Thank this. -
I don't think all the plastic we use these days is a good thing either. Lots of nasty stuff coming out about microplastics and their effects on us. Not to mention how much waste goes to the dump with all the packaging every product has today.
I honestly think we've regressed in some ways as we've progressed.cke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 9 others Thank this. -
No kidding . It can't be good long term. I remember as a kid when it was the paper industry that was killing the environment, paper bags at the grocery store were the devil. They switched everything to plastic and now u got to pay for a plastic grocery bag on the west coast because they are killing the environment but paper bags are free..... lol last time I checked we can grow new trees but what do I knowcke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 10 others Thank this.

They're banning single use plastics in Canada. We have to carry reuseable bags with us now. When we grab a burger for lunch our drinks come with a paper straw and apparently whatever they coat the straws in is pretty nasty too. I'll just stick with my Stanley thermos full of clean water I think.
Plastic or paper? The truth about drinking strawscke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 12 others Thank this. -
The liquor stores in the Ho still use paper bags— which is why I support them in a big way— my way of saying “F the Man”cke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 15 others Thank this.

We have to pay for our paper bags here in Oregon, but at least we can still get them.
cke, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 10 others Thank this.
