Here too. At least we're 11* to the good here, instead of the 15* in the hole up in NE WY.

Comin through Monday evening between St Joe and KC was a mess. Several trucks already in the ditches, one rolled over, a few cars .

We'll ride out a day or two at home

Ain't sure if this will damage the filter or not but, was on the brink of being froze up in -8°f after sitting all weekend.

Truck was plugged in which I know ain't helping the fuel or oil. She coughed to life just barely, sound like not getting enough fuel, wouldn't even high idle, & died at the blip of the accelerator. Got her snorting & coughing again on low idle, & lied under there with a torch running it up down & all around the filter. Within a minute or so she sound better, & was able to high idle at that point..

Well 3 week later, put fuel on Elm Creek, NE at the Sapp. She been running for 72hrs straight & maybe +12°f. Went to leave the fuel island & she stalled. Same symptoms of froze up. Thankfully was empty & eventually got her going in low with no throttle, was able to make a 1.5mph crawl to a parking slip. Swapped out with spare under the bunk & been good since.

Weird timing, maybe got bad fuel?, but didn't see any water from the drain. Maybe se was just plugged?, or maybe I damaged it with the torch few weeks prior?

Anywho, this long novel for might could try a torch!? Lol :D

Ive done the torch trick a couple times, doesn't feel right when you are doing it, but when you realize diesel does not want to burn when it is that cold out it eases your mind a little. Gonna try the melt down, and if that don't work I will do a filter change.

Yeah that what the mill gives us. I loaded here on Monday and took some flatbar to a customer and they complained I used my own dunnage ... f em I'll throw this cheesy softwood on here for this next load . Saves me work. They can have it

These things might be the biggest waste of money ever, a starter pack, that refuses to work in the cold and if you use it to much over heats almost immediately and is out of commission for hours, biggest waste of money ever IMG_20250219_132412483.jpg

I delivered a load to a solar farm and the site "guy" threw a mini-meltdown/temper tantrum when I told him he couldn't have MY dunnage. I offered to sell it to him for a "nominal fee" lol. Not sure what emotion that invoked in his little brain, but it shut him up.

We've got that same one at work, it has worked good every time I've used it. Probably lowest temperature was in the low twenties. We also have a couple of snap on ones of the same size, they aren't as good seems to me. I know them things aren't cheap.

No they are not, the only time I need the #### thing is when it's cold out and you can not get it to work, and don't make the mistake of putting it in your truck, it definitely won't work them. Just for reference it's 0 out right now and I can use it for one attempt then I have to go and let it sit inside for an hour before you can use it again
