My buddy at Marten is doing pretty good on miles and $ but has been out so much that he is burning out and keeps looking for local or dedicated. He told me last night he has been out for 42 days and has been trying to get intermodal.
I'm at USA and doing my darndest to bail out, low pay, hard to get home, poor communication with the DM's and road service.

Makes you wonder are smaller companies better to work for? Sorry you got crapped on. I have had these situations and it is true when people are beating the doors in to drive YOUR truck owners have NO loyalty. If everyone in this country said ENOUGH when WE all have jobs you can give the second picks to NEWCOMERS! But, since business puppets the government......nobody looks out for us. Good luck to you friend with your experience you will land on you feet for sure!:biggrin_255:

Robert Lowe at Prime, not to bad of a guy. Randy Martin A.K.A ***hole! Open door policy my ###. Only good thing I seen from there was decent miles at the time. Have someone tell you the story about one of the company picnic's in the past about the dispatcher's that brought the beer and a driver jumped in his truck to drive back over to the yard in Mondovi and had a wreck. DWI in a big truck and they let him go. That should say a lot.

Never had any trouble getting home because they didn't want to pay that $50 a day for everyday late getting home and I live in "bad" area freightlane.

I agree. After driving for a few (mega companies), and not getting the respect or pay i felt i deserved for taking care of their truck, delivering their freight on time, following their rules and doing whatever they asked of me, I finally got my own truck. Being an o/o is not the easiest way to earn a living, but i dont answer to some 25 year old, just out of college jerk who has never even been in a truck, let alone know what really goes on out here. I could never go back to driving for one of these sleezy companies.

1 mo or so in '04 start off usual "BEST"? orientation ok, but 1st load problems/frustration, then kept me back east running wanted me to run 900mls solo 1day WI-MS"take a powernap"(HOS? they had 7fatals accidents in 2yr period, u can access DOT records with MC# Co name on any co), when had doc appt in CA, and finally got back to CA, "$50 day hometime"x nearly 30days=0"turn in truck, RESIGNED,they put "TERM..."/"Co policy violation"? I put statement DAC but as u know, employers buddy up and treat false reports as gold. This is currently why, with Clean driving record, and 9yrs Class A, I'm very selective(my last OTR trk was Pete379-18spd! and b4 that KW900, and even end 2nd yr ClassicXL500hp wide open!) after being burrned so much. However, many cos will look at proof(Clean driving and other longer employ with no bad reports, also some smaller cos do not subscribe to DAC, then u just have 2 wonder if pay ok or not going out of business!) I have worked for some big cos that all in all weren't that bad, relatively few problems like even start out 1st yr safe driving with Swift, and Arrow(flat-OTR 9mos,now even out of business! So do your homework as much as u can B4 get in with a co,save some heartache, but as for rest like Job, I take the good with the bad, and THE LORD watches over me,sometimes despite me gettin' in way! Happy trails(ie.Hwy12 WA-ID-MT Lewis/Clark trail and 18MS moon,Dwntwn Memphis(near Beale, even camp out across from Graceland Hwy51 and so many beautiful paths, and cool surprises like Dauphin Island,AL(landbridge)and Daytona Beach(drove right up to beach! cars go on sand!) and took "less travelled"route(still on fuel route) Alt-90, then LA82 took truck on ferry! But remember still, as trainer Cliff said, "best way to avoid situation,is not get in it in the first place!" Captainmidnite2000, "just a songwriter...who drives a truck" have L.O.C.,WA "memoirs of a dark warrior"2000 n' still writing/playing! even after being tasered 2X for false witness report of harmonica as gun in CA! then applied for and got first "local" job I wanted White Cap,so home for daughter, leased her show horse/then bought one! THE LORD truly provides!

Does anyone know how swift is as a first driving job? I am getting training starting soon. Doing the book part on the web from my house. And then going to their yard for 3 weeks for the practical portion of it. Sounds pretty good to me. Let me know if anyone has any input. Thanks. Big moe
