Hi everyone. I was just wondering if I only have flatbed experience, would companies that does dryvan hire me in the future? I'm a new graduate and a flatbed company wants to hire me while I'm waiting for westernexpress and swift to call me back.

Without a doubt yes, dry van companies will hire you.

Flatbed is a way more intense job than a van. People go from vans to flatbeds, but I'm not sure you get paid all that much more. Flatbed has distinct advantages over a van, if you can handle tarping and strapping loads in all weather, makes that 22 pallets of diapers( or whatever) seem a bit more attractive. Flatbed is clearly a better job for the future. All I see in Colorado is flatbeds, vans not so much.

How much experience do you have total? I am scratching my head wondering why with flatbed you'd want to "step back" with choices like Western Express or Swift. I would go Swift any day over Western, though. Western has a lot of beat to hell equipment.

Dry van, refrigerated, tankers will all hire you.

Don’t go Western Express.

Why go from better money to less money and the cattle drive of dry van?
