There were a few obscure cult classic trucker movies and shows filmed there back in the 70’s. Movin’ On had a scene filmed there too I believe. Some of my family’s West Tejas running buddies used to meet up there on the west coast cattle runs back in the day and told me the story of how Hal Needham rolled in there one day to recruit a bunch of truckers for the dessert roundup scene in Smokey the Bandit 2 and a couple of them had the honor to do it. That would never happen today.

Maybe they should have started selling medieval armor?
seems to keep Loves busy.mjd4277, Opus, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I stopped there back in 1987 (1988??) on my one-and-only load to the Tucson area. Even then (nearly 40 years) ago it was a bit of a dump.
Flat Earth Trucker and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Last time I stopped there in 2017 it was a dump. Used to stop there in the mid 90's and it was better. Another gem done.
Walk Among Us Thanks this. -
TTT for the most of the time I've gone there has had decent food and not much more. Building a Pilot next door didn't improve their fortunes that's for sure. I won't argue with those folks who call it a dump, to some people a dump is anyplace that doesn't have a Subway, an Arby's and a roller dog grill.

When I lived in Tucson, I would meet my uncle there for dinner whenever he passed through town. He drove for one of the big nationwide movers. Good food back then, cool spot to.
It also started attracting more and more homeless/drugs/lizards.
Also this thread has crazy timing, I was just asking a friend who still lives out there if it was still there. Now I know the answer!
They had some nice portions the times I ate there. Though it's been awhile since I have.
Part of me would rather see it shut down vs turning into a loves, etc.
Miss ya Triple T!

Or medieval armor!

I was just there this morning. doesn't look ANY different than the last time I was there. That was middle of last year. The only real difference I have seen in the last several YEARS is that the candy counter in the restaurant is gone, and they got rid of the tight shelving and narrow aisles in the store. Yes, it could use a bit of clean up, but it's a TRUCK STOP, not a #### resort. Some of you people are just cryin ### little girls.navypoppop and TB John Thank this.

The only time I can see anyone buying that medieval armor awesomeness is a group of drunk bros buying it to dick with the friend they are driving to meet. I cannot in anyway, under any circumstance, consider it a serious purchase.TheLoadOut and TB John Thank this.

Back in the 80s the back row shenanigans were really the stuff made of legends. just sayin....
