Oh yeah. Tried to plug in the address for Swift in Memphis to get back to the terminal. It refused to take it! I did look it up by name and it routed me there. :biggrin_25526:

I feel the same way. I would much rather spend a little extgra time on a hwy then go through town.

My other big issue is why does the unit tell me where not to go. If I am on the correct road then I don't need it to tell me not to take a exit. ( ie; "stay left") All I need to know is the exit I do need to take. It is random too. Why it does it on some exits and not others. My Garmin does it too, but after running them at the same time the 7700 does it much more and I thought the Garmin did it to much.

    software is #1.5.19.

    Are these correct and current?

Yeah, I know. It kept warning me about the 38' width thing while on US 89 between 44 and I-5 would not shut the hell up, I assure this road is no more then 20 feet tops from side to side and no shoulder. Also gave me that alert on I-5 but it seemed to stop once I left California.

Am I not understanding the weight restrictions icon? This has happened on both of the last trips I've used the GPS on. First time it said 5T NOW. Second time it said 10T NOW. I was not on a weight restricted route. Why is it giving me a warning for it?

So far, this GPS is 0 for 2. Both trips I've received false warnings. Unless I'm just not understanding it. I'm giving the GPS the benefit of the doubt and will try it on 2 more trips. But if I keep getting false warnings and such, it's going to be exchanged for the Garmin 465T. If that doesn't cut it, I'll go back to a $100 Tom-Tom. For $400, I do expect it to be pretty darn accurate.

And while I wouldn't return it for this reason alone, I do agree that I'd rather be routed slightly further if I can stay on the expressway a bit longer, rather than get routed through town.

But these false warnings is what has me seriously concerned.

The first time I saw that I was confused too. The next time I noticed the the warning I saw a side street that had that weight limit on it. Maybe it that was what happened to you.

Yes, details would be most helpful.

Just like a car mechanic who needs to see the problem before he can fix it, we too need to see the routing problem before we can address it. The only way for us to "see" the problem is to know the following:

    1. The city that you started from.
    2. The destination address.
    3. The nature of the problem, and where it occurred.
We will then run the route so that we can see exactly what the nav unit was doing.

We don't always need to know addresses -- it depends on the problem. For example if the nav unit tried to take you down a truck-restricted street, we just need to know the street. If we need more details we will ask.

Feel free to post route details here, or you can email me direct at 7700PRO@cobra.com and I will get back to you.

Sorry but the 7700PRO does not have a screen that shows a compass needle.

Regarding the 5-ton weight limit road, please let me know the name of the road and the town and we can check on it.

There is newer software and mapping database. To order a free update, please call Customer Service at 773-889-3087. When you call, they will need the serial number off the back of your unit.

Evidently the nav unit thought that you were on a weight restricted road. If you can give me the name of the road and the town then I can check on it.
