Dispatcher was informed of the situation. Their attitude was; the load has to get there. Therefore it is a companies fault for allowing the trailer to continue down the highway.
US Express.. How bad can they get?

Dispatcher should be counseled and perhaps fired. Driver who pulled it through the mountains should be fired. -
It was mentioned earlier that this driver had 30yrs. experience. Speaks volumes of his quality if he's not made it any further than USxpress in his driving career.
zentrucking Thanks this. -
Who would get the ticket if he was inspected? Do you think DOT would say "it's not your fault, we are going after US Express"? What would happen to the driver if he was in an accident and after a post accident inspection they found this? Even if they have all the proof that US Express was aware of this, the driver would still be the one responsible for driving the truck. Read the box you check after doing your pretrip and signing... falsifying you logs would be the least of your problems if you get in an accident while pulling this trailer.
No load is worth putting my life or the lives of others in danger. -
duhhhhhhhh... no brainer moment
Sorry driver -
just left a company that usx owned and couldn't get any miles say nothing about having problems like that! starting out with cheeseman next week and hopefully it's alot better than what i had.

Anytime you hook up to a different trailer you need to check the brakes, pull on the trailer brake handle and see if you can move the truck at all if you can brakes need adjusted, if it dont move you know the brakes are ok also getting under it and looking are a good thing to if its not sitting in mud, to many drivers dont know how to adjust brakes and should be taught how to, no brakes on a loaded trailer and your not going to stop at all going at a high speed even at 55 you cant stop, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BRAKES.
Baack Thanks this. -
I know this thought is just dreaming, but wouldnt a lot of that type of stuff stop if the dispatchers were made to take the same financial risk as the company and driver? as always it the drivers call and his responsibility but if he wont get any work for however long the dispatcher feels like making him sit, hows a guy supposed to feed the family?

Trick is, I think it's just part of the progression of bineg a driver, some people well finally say enough is enough and do something about it. I could not find a job to treat me good and pay me well, so i bought a truck and went into it myself. no i answer to noone and no one screws me over. I move a load of cars, I get paid. Repeat process.
Basically you can;t use the excuse, i don't wanna piss off dispatch. if you gotta worry about that, quit! -
