Drove a few as a company driver . The engine is powerful but not reliable. The dashboard lit up everytime it rained. Bad wiring . Dpf problems more than cummins and dd15 . Only paccar certified can work on these engines so you cant get it fixed anywhere like cummins and Detroit.

When I shopped for trucks 5 yrs a go the Paccar, cummins and internationals were 10 to 15k less than the DD15s and Volvo . I'm sure the newer ones are probably better .

I have a 2017 579 and I have 579k miles on it right now. I’ve owned it since 244k. I’ve done the exhaust manifold, water pump, starter, alternator, 2 NOx sensors, and I cleaned the dpf at 400k. I’ve followed the recommended service intervals and have had no issues. I’m getting a new 579 before the end of the year and it also has the 510/1850 MX13 in it. I’ve been really pleased with this one.

2019, 330K, no issues other than a nox sensor. It’s been good, so far.

Do these have steel or composite oil pans? The 2015 T680 I'm driving has what appears to be a steel one with a crack about 2/3rds to 3/4" long just forward of the drain plug that is causing a leak.

Injector issues on the newer ones. Since this an older thread I can't speak on any before 2022.
