After reading this and looking at new trucks for the first time in a long time, I was sorta kidding when I bought my current 379 and told everyone it's the last truck I will buy. There is absolutely zero chance I ever get a brand new truck, no interest in any of them, they seem like the wrong tool for the job of a single owner operator who is not a door slammer

 

Joel Morrow is has pictures of different engine. He really believes in the Volvo high torque low RPM setup . He on Facebook if anyone is interested. I was never a big fan of Volvo engines but he make them seem better if you spec them correctly.

 

I have not heard anything about the Cummins being downsped moving forward. Which probably isn’t saying much. But news to me. Any sources for this?

 

What is the torque rating of this short stroke Volvo engine

 

Future?? Letourneau was doing this in heavy equipment man years ago. Some of the old stuff still working.

 

I stopped keeping up with engines and compressions and bottom end strength about the time we went in to Mack at Phoenix to get a head gasket on my avatar H63 Mack. That is what the return spring on the accelerator pedal is for, to be pressed down on firmly.

 

Well, I signed the order for my next truck today even though I think the builders are out right stealing from us.

much lighter spec than my current 4 axle. No Aux trans, no double frame

will build a pin on 4th axle to go with the new truck

should be built beginning of November

so if anyone needs a lightly used Heavy spec western star 4 axle - I have one for sale in late October.
