Yeah, Food service would kill me lol, I've heard the horror stories, that would be a last resort, maybe shuttle driver, but I would look into it.

Is LTL local work only, maybe regional? Believe it or not I don't really want to go home, well, at least not right now, as much as I don't like the mountains, or everything else on the road, that's why I went into OTR in the first place. I'm living with family right now, if I had my own place then that would be different, but you guys know what I mean without going into much details. Another thing, I think going OTR would save me more money then if I stay local. BUT, but, like I said, I'm willing to go local for the right opportunity ( depending on the job ), I have some goals that I want to reach and I need money for them.

At the rate the Florida orange crop is dying off there won't be any real Florida orange juice left. Between diseases and selling the groves to build those zero lot line mega home developments the crops are slowly disappearing. You used to see nothing but orange groves up into the areas north of Gainesville but now you have to go below Arcadia it seems like.

I can by get well enough to do the job. Stick the paperwork in their hands and they can point and nod to let me know what I need to do. Some drivers use Google translate on their phones but I haven't needed to do that yet.

I had that Duolingo app on my phone so I was learning a few words and phrases. Not enough to get myself into trouble, but I can usually get a smile out of them when I try speaking French.

@KaoMinerva can tell you more about Estes, I know they do have a wild board where your gone during the week, I believe they have bunk rooms or pay for hotels for the drivers.

XPO would have you home every day, unless you ran in the team sleeper division which Old Dominion has as well.

My company doesn’t have any Florida terminals, we interline with Southeast and Averitt down that way.

You could also learn a lot about what LTL is and does in this forum, lots of us post about our jobs and what we do.

Everyone thinks that, but there's a lot of costs to OTR. Overpriced everything at truck stops, paying for things on the road that would be low cost or free at home...I did both and OTR really isn't as much of a money saver as it might appear at first glance.

Otr food is garbage, over priced barely healthy. You can cook in the truck if you have an inverter. But then your probably taking away from sleep time or shower time. Not including dish wash time. I’ll tell ya otr isn’t what people think it is. It’s work sleep work sleep somewhere in there eat shower ####.
