I'm in CT also, and I would not trust any CDL school around here. Best to sign up with a company like Schnieder, where they teach you how to drive and then furnish the truck in which to test in your home state.

i went to a nettts openhouse at there north andover,ma. location about a year ago the price was about $5500.00 however if you do this and get your cdl you have no experiance. im 36 and when i do it the best thing for me is to go to a truck company that has student training to get my cdl through them only catch is i sign contract to work for them for 1 year and i dont owe them anything. it's a good deal if you think if you went to driving school and paid $5500. once you graduate the only companys that will look at you will probably be the same companys that if you signed a 1 year contract with it would be free plus you have a job without forking out thousands and after a year you'll have your 1 year experiance otr that most decent companys want you to have to consider you. goodluck!

harleybob- depends on the company, the company im gonna start with is prime, they let you take truck home for hometime(bobtail) and have the highest training pay($600.00 a week) and no slip seating like other companys, which means you keep your truck when you go on hometime and not turn it in and get a differant one after home times over. some companys dont let you take truck home so with them you'd need to live close to a terminal.but prime you can live anywhere and take truck home.i would research differant companys websites to see what they offer.

Well of course Prime lets you take your truck home....You will be paying about $2800/month for the truck. You will find you don't own the truck, the truck owns you. Eastcoastguy you won't be getting home often. You have to pay those fixed costs.

ya i dont plan on leasing anyway, strictly company.i wouldnt lease untill a had a few or several years of company driving under my belt by that time i wouldnt be with a starter company. also i dont have a family so i have no reason to be home much anyway,i'd probably just give up my apt. and use a family members address for residency. trust me i've researched most companys and if your just looking for your first 1 year otr experiance(company) so you can go to a decent company then primes the way to go.
