We regularly have guys coming in and dropping double what their 25-50 year old tractors are worth, rebuilding the major components. A lot of these guys like their simple tractors. No computers, mechanical linkages and they just keep going.

FPT is running an air to water to air after cooler system completely independent of the engine cooling system. They claim it's more efficient at lowering intake air temperature than using a standard air to air setup. Pains me to say it but Europe is beating us with engine tech. The FPT Cursor 13L is making 620 HP with no EGR, no DPF and just twin, non-VGT turbos. Just has an SCR catalyst for emissions and that's it.

####, I could care less, I can go outside and grab a beer without it being in the fridge and it's cold, so there, take that.

I deleted a couple of spotter trucks to a show at Indy speedway late 2018. The trucks were there for something Cummins was putting on. While waiting to unload I was talking to some big shot at Cummins, he said the engines are still good for a million miles it's the after treatment that kills them . He said nothing on earth is meant to eat its own s#@t. Screenshot_20250401-053540.png Screenshot_20250401-053540.png Screenshot_20250401-053522.png

Speaking of rolling bearings in, we bought this white S series International brand new in 1985 from R.F Steiners in Huntington. DT466 / 5 spd / 2 spd. I inframed it around 370,000 miles, only because of a pinhole in a liner.

When we sold it, it had just over 920,000 miles on it. Block had never been out of the frame, and crank and cam are still im the block today never been out.

This truck was a selling point for me on Pennzoil 15W-40 motor oil. Sadly it’s not available anymore, if it were my engine would be pumping it through its veins.

Im not much recirculating exhaust on the diesel engines, keep it pure not mixed and put the exhaust where the hell it belongs…..

This is interesting technology. I'm not sure how they deal with freezing temperatures - maybe just drain the water when the truck is shut off, and heat it when running?
