    OK guys,
In the past when I've asked a question you've always come through for me.
I'm trying to figure out how to file my OK IFTA electronically.
When I filed 2024 4th quarter IFTA there was a phone number on the paperwork that the state sent me, I asked them a couple of questions and they told me that I could file my IFTA electronically.
I need help knowing what website to go to to get this done.

Bonus question: I run under someone else's authority, and during the last quarter I got to run in New Mexico and New York, and because I don't have an account in my name it seems like I can't file those electronically. So I have to use other means to file--correct?
    Thanks for your help!

If you don’t have a NY & NM account/license then your carrier should have your truck listed on their license. Talk to the carrier you run under and pray that they got you covered. NM will flag you at the poe if you don’t have a license. NY you need a sticker on your bumper and getting caught without a license there’s a very steep fine.

I can’t help you with OK. In FL we can do everything online quick and easy but need an account. The account takes a month or more to get set up so I had to file my 1st time manually and mail it in.

If the carrier you’re leased to requires you to have your own ifta license they probably require you to have your own accounts setup with the few individual states. KY, CT, NY, OR and NM and let’s not forget CA for the Clean Air BS.

Sounds to me like you should have purchased trip permits since you didn’t have accounts setup.

Quit google search shows you need to sign in here Oklahoma Corporation Commission IRP System to file IFTA. Concorde laid out the other issues with your permits. Gonna guess since you are filing IFTA yourself you messed up and did not sign up for KY, CT, NY, NM, and OR if you run through them. You need trip permits if you do not have accounts set up. This could get to be messy and a pain in the butt.

I don’t know if it’s true or just an exaggeration but someone told me the fine for NY is $2k for no license.

I know OR is a $400 fine. I got bagged but got a warning thankfully. I got stuck in OR and didn’t realize my permit expired the day before. Made me get a new permit before I left. KY gives you ten days and that’s what was stuck in my mind, unfortunately OR is only 7 days.

I agree it could get messy if his carrier doesn’t have credentials for those states. Once he files his ifta NM & NY are going to catch it.

I guess he could/should get an account set up now and get the tax filed by the end of the month. NM is easy and shouldn’t take long to set up but I remember NY being somewhat of a pia.

New York is always a pain. They seem to change the website every time I go to file. At least now I don't have to file every qtr.

I wonder if he can set up everything before filing IFTA? This might make the most sense to try and do. They may not catch it.

I run under my company account for NY and NM. They had to update info for several states when I got my own plates. I would let the company take care of ifta but they want 20 bucks a week to do it. The whole point of this post is to try and reduce what I am paying to do the reports.

I use ifta plus and it’s 5 bucks a month, but to produce the ok ifta report is 40 bucks, NY and NM are 15 a piece. So less then what my company would cost, but I am always looking for ways to cut costs I can. I do appreciate the responses.

I don’t understand why you’re paying anything to file ifta outside of your tax liability. IFTA Plus, never heard of it.

Look, we don’t live in the Stone Age anymore. Oklahoma (if you setup an account) should have it setup so all you do is enter miles run in every jurisdiction. Then enter fuel purchased in every jurisdiction. Once you do that and add some basic info, fuel type etc it’ll calculate automatically what you owe or what you get for refund. Pay the tax online and you’re done.

If you’re using a company fuel card make sure to get a quarterly fuel report from them for your records. Also a quarterly ifta report (miles run in every state) from their elog. Keep good records because you could get flagged for an audit. If you do something funky you could get flagged sooner than later.
